We didn’t have enough time, but I was also gonna mention that Frankenstein is already kind of based on a scientific realism. And Jim mentioned this briefly, but I considered perhaps if vampires had a sort of blood addiction but had to feed on other things as well, that might work.
Hey guys, this was my favorite one so far-but I am a fan of horror and fantasy. Speaking of-Dave mentioned the possibility of a werewolf that only undergoes a mental change, not a physically observable one. I’m just chiming in that there’s something like this in Jim Butcher’s Dresden Files. Book 2 Fool Moon deals with the different types of werewolf, one of which is lycanthrope, physically human with the mind of a wolf (although I think it’s a permanent state, no transformation).
Keep it up guys, I’m really enjoying it!
Also, the second question should be “… Hollywood movie monsters” … I’m so mad at myself!
